Movement culture

“No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable of.” Socrates

Movement culture

It can be defined by the individual’s personalized and developed world of movement, starting from our first steps, through adulthood even as a professional athlete.
This would be the theory that most people are unable to remember, but when approached from a practical point of view, it is the background for achieving a kind of harmony and balance.

It can also be called as perhaps the most important factor of a suitable body mass index (BMI).

What is body mass index?

Nowadays, the body mass index is the most accepted formula or method used to determine a healthy weight, overweight or thinness.

The method is named after Belgian astronomer, mathematician, Adolphe Quetelet (1796-1874).

According to his calculation the body weight in kilograms is devided by the square of the height measured in meters, i.e. If I am 80kg and 1,8 m tall, then 80:3,24= 24,69

Body mass index (kg/m²) Body weight classification
  • < 16 severe thinness
  • 16 – 16,99 moderate leanness
  • 17 – 18,49 mild leanness
  • 18,5 – 24,99 normal body weight
  • 25 – 29,99 overweight
  • 30 – 34,99 I. degree obesity
  • 35 – 39,99 II. degree obesity
  • ≥ 40 III. degree (severe) obesity
